Radicalizing Art Experience with AR/ Mixed Reality
Talk by Phoo Myat Thwe
Revolutionary performance artist, Marina Abramović created a Mixed reality performance art, “The Life” in 2019. The new medium is particularly exciting for Abramović since even after her death, her form and her work is always alive virtually and the energy never dissipates, according to her. “I believe that art of the future is art without objects. It’s just pure transmission of energy between the viewer and the artist.”
Augmented Reality is revolutionizing the way art connects with audience. With AR, 2D canvases can come to life and interact with viewers in real life environments. We are able to see sculptures layer by layer, as close as we want to without physical materials present. AR is disrupting the traditional means of art production/ consumption. In this talk, we will be exploring AR/ Mixed reality creative landscape, discussing about notable artists, projects, how AR can revolutionize the experience of public art and how it can impact Art businesses, changing the usual processes as we know it now.
