Landscapes ≈ Mindscapes
Reality is rather limiting for the artists of this exhibition. Their true intention is not to transfer the real landscapes that their eyes capture onto their canvases. Their art is a medium of translation for the conversations between the real world landscape and the artist’s mind, giving us a window of opportunity to discover about the artists themselves through their works.
Featuring 5 most notable artists, Win Pe Myint, Zaw Win Pe, Min Zaw, Ba Khine and CNK (Chan Nyein Kyaw), the “Landscapes ≈ Mindscapes” exhibition invites the visitors to step into the hybrid world of the places you may be familiar with in the real world, mixed in with artists’ imaginations, expressions, living experiences, and distorted realities in their artworks. Through the works of this exhibition, we venture into each individual artist’s mind, investigating what informs their practices, and their intimate conversations between themselves and their canvases. The symbol “approximately equal (≈)” between the words landscapes and mindscapes in the exhibition title suggests how the landscape works in this exhibition relates to the artists’ mental landscapes, influenced by their identities, personal memories and state of beings.
